“All artists, by virtue of being artists, are noble creatures, since nobility is the inherent desire to help improve mankind’s life and that is what we strive for. Among our grand ideas, dreams, ambitions, goals, and vision is our understanding of the field that we have chosen as the main language we want to use” (How Successful Artists Study).
I believe that the power of imagination can expand the boundaries of our limitations as artists. Art is the language that creators use to reflect on the world and themselves and their place in society. It can be a tool to envision the future and to cultivate change. Neil Gaiman says, “We all have an obligation to daydream. We have an obligation to imagine. It is easy to pretend that nobody can change anything, that society is huge and the individual is less than nothing. But the truth is individuals make the future, and they do it by imagining that things can be different.”
Without imagination, there would not be ideas, stories, or innovation. To cultivate the imagination is to obtain ultimate creativity and gain an openness to empathy. It allows us to be in another world and to experience the lives of others. As artists, we all have that space in our minds that reflects our lives, our inner worlds. My dream is to use immersive storytelling in multiple mediums to inspire, captivate, and cultivate positive change within the world.
